Our 2006 / 2007 Open Studios programme began at the beginning of October. The one-year Open Studios programme will provide an opportunity for people with complex learning disabilities to work alongside artists, non-disabled students from Higher Art Education and people from different adult social care settings on an ongoing and inclusive programme of creativity and learning. It will enable people with complex needs to engage in a focused programme of high quality creative experiences, developing specialist skills such as drawing, painting, digital imaging, video and photography. These skills will be demonstrated through a physical and digital portfolio of each student's work. In addition the programme will help to develop greater communication and self-advocacy skills through new collaborations, contacts and friendships with non-disabled artists.
The year will culminate in an exhibition, a publication and a DVD
Project dates:
Oct 2006 to June 2007
