Individuals with complex needs collaborate with experienced, professional artists who work intuitively to engage with each individual, irrespective of impairments. We combine traditional visual arts techniques with new media, and workshop activities typically include painting, drawing, construction, digital photography and film.
Our professional artists work 1:1 with participants to give them the tools both to work in teams – thereby developing skills in collaboration and a shared sense of ownership about achievement – as well as addressing individual potential through a creative programme that discovers and reveals their ability.
The artist team add innovatory elements such as video projections on canvas, to enable alternative, multi-sensory routes into the process. The learning techniques and collaborative working methods employed in the studio feed into research and development work on our other programmes, such as those that support mainstream art venues to expand their ‘inclusion’ agendas to support individuals with high support needs.
